What is home watch?
Home watch is a series of scheduled, visual checks of your property while you are away. At Lantern, it starts with a checklist agreed for your home, then continues with observations, photographs, and communication after each visit.
It is a practical fit for seasonal homeowners, people who travel frequently, and families who want a local point of contact for their property. A visit records conditions at that time; it does not provide continuous surveillance or guarantee that every issue will be discovered.
What happens during a Lantern visit?
We walk accessible areas of the property and look for obvious changes from the baseline established during your assessment. The details depend on your home and your agreement.
- Arrival and exterior: visible changes around accessible entry points, windows, grounds, and the roofline as seen from the ground.
- Interior: apparent moisture, unusual odors, visible pest activity, or changes around accessible walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Climate: interior temperature, humidity, and accessible thermostat settings.
- Water and appliances: visible conditions near accessible plumbing and agreed cold-storage readings.
- Departure: completion of the agreed access and security routine, documented before we leave.
Eyes on the details. Hands on the agreed tasks.
Some care requires a person at the property. With your authorization, a visit may include running selected faucets, flushing toilets, bringing a package inside, or checking that an accessible door is secured. We agree on those tasks together rather than assuming what you want.
Repairs, system diagnosis, and specialist work are separate. If a condition needs another professional, we contact you and can help coordinate access for your approved vendor within the instructions you have provided.
Weekly or biweekly?
Lantern offers weekly and biweekly visits. We recommend against waiting a month between checks: leaks, climate changes, and other concerns can develop during that gap. We discuss your home, time away, and priorities during the assessment to choose the right routine.
If your insurer has specified a visit requirement, bring that information to the conversation. You should confirm any coverage requirements directly with your insurer; Lantern does not determine whether your policy conditions have been met.
Start with a personal assessment.
Our $49 assessment lets us walk your property together, document baseline conditions, discuss access and communication, and prepare a service proposal. If you enroll in a recurring plan the same day, that assessment fee is credited toward your first month.
The online form requests a preferred assessment date. Service availability and the appointment time are confirmed personally; submitting the form does not reserve a calendar slot or collect payment.
